Kerala Health Tourism and Global Ayurveda Summit and Expo 2025 predicts three-fold growth in medical tourism by 2030

Kochi : Following its global fame in the tourism sector, the government has intensified steps to bring Kerala to the forefront of the world in the field of Ayurveda treatment, said Industries Minister P. Rajeev. He also clarified that the aim is to transform the state into a center for holistic wellness by integrating Kerala's unique treatment method, Ayurveda, with modern medicine.

Ayurveda economy will boom

Dr. Sajikumar, Chairman, CII Global Ayurveda Summit said that Kerala's Ayurveda economy will grow from the current Rs. 15,000 crore to Rs. 60,000 crore by 2031. It is likely to reach Rs. 5 lakh crore by 2047, he added, adding that Ayurveda has emerged as a globally recognized health science supported by technology. The current global wellness economy is worth $ 5.6 trillion.

Union Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav said online that Kerala is a model for the country in the field of Ayurveda treatment. The value of the Indian Ayurveda economy is $ 43 billion. The contribution of the Ayurveda sector to the country's GDP is expected to increase to 5 percent by 2047, said Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH.

Kerala has an advantage in quality

Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala Trustee P.M. Warrier opined that Kerala needs to be highlighted as the only center providing world-class treatment combining Ayurveda and modern medicine. Medical Trust Hospital MD Dr. P.V. Lewis pointed out that Kerala is the only country in India that has international standard treatment facilities in all districts of the state.

CII's Southern Region Chairman Thomas John Muthoot said that the best healthcare systems in India are in South India. He added that Kerala's healthcare systems are excellent, while Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have world-class hospitals and facilities.

Nalanda Jayadev, CEO of Aster Medicity and co-convener of the CII Kerala Health Committee, said that Kerala has a fast access to healthcare and no one needs to wait for healthcare services.

The summit, organized in partnership with CII Kerala Chapter, Ministry of AYUSH and Government of Kerala, was attended by delegates from 16 countries. CII Kerala Chairman VKC Razak spoke in the inaugural session.
