It was a tiring trip to reach Italy, making several transit stops and finally when one reaches Carpi, what a surprise it is! You are hungry and the North Indian food at Tandoori an Indian restaurant in a a vibrant, casual-yet-classy setting, was indeed something that fits the need. The fare available at short notice thanks to the efficient and experienced Chefs made it worthwhile even to visit Carpi just for eating at Tandoori.
This town Carpi in the past was a giant in textile exports from Italy and also very close to the location where very well know automobile brands like Ferrari started. Dugatiis another brand that the whole world knows.
Ask any one there how it has happened, the stock answer is that the town of Carpi everyone wants to lead a fast life. Even in the Indian food the service is as fast as one would desire. Perhaps the visit of the buyers and exporters from the Indian subcontinent has created the need for Indian food. So many Indian restaurants started. But what makes Tandoori unique is the range of North Indian food that is available. Even in the Indian sub continent one cannot hope to get everything in one place. But here in Tandoori at Carpi a lot is available.
The ingredients reverberate with the originals and the food and authentic flavours are very comparable. The presentation of the dishes is not only appealing to the Italian customers but appeal very much to the visitors from abroad who expect the same taste and quality that they get in their homes. That is what made Tandoori different. It is not an experiment in food taste but follows the same tradition that has existed for ages.
The dishes worth mentioning are
Tandoori items with Chicken, Mutton, Fish and breads like Butter Nan, Garlic Nan, Onion Nan, Alu Nan, KeemaNan, Tandoori Roti and many others. Curries with Chicken, Mutton are a variety of combinations that one finds in Punjab also make their way here. Even Salmon is available as a curry.
Rice items include both vegan and meat items like Kashmiri Rice, Chicken Muttar Pulav, Mutton Briyani, Chicken Tikka Briyani including the most popular veg salads and sides and short eats like Samosa, Pakoras, Alu Tikki, Paneer Tika, Tadka Dal, Punjabi Choley and Malai Kofta are available. Of course there is a serious competition between veg and non veg tiems like HaryaliChicken Tikka, Chicken Tandoori, Chicken wings, Fish Pakora, and Tandootri Fish. These items are finished with a crisp texture and flavourful spice mix.
