                      Jio ruled on social media
India has been one of the most favourite playgrounds for major telecom companies since the last decade and more. A huge potential customer base, increasing incomes and spending power along with the ever increasing demand of smartphones has kept the major telecom companies on their feet most of the times. The year 2017 saw drastic changes in this industry, with Jio changing the game and tightening the competition in the 4G spectrum. Let’s see how well India’s top telecom companies connect with the audience in 2017.

While Vodafone claims to connect people, they hardly seemed to care about connecting with their followers on Facebook. With only 8 posts, they did not connect with their huge fan base of over 14 lakh FB users. As expected, they garnered very few likes, comments and shares. Idea Cellular, which is soon entering into a merger with Vodafone IN was quite active throughout the year with 438 posts, an average of 20,039 likes, 107 comments and 70 shares per post. Their CB Score (CompuBrain Score) for 2017 is 0.085, which is the best in the industry.

Jio managed to keep a major part of its followers engaged with 673 posts, a total of 3,156,675 likes, 159272 comments and 167995 shares. It ended the year with an impressive CB Score of 0.077. Airtel India was also quite active throughout the year with 574 posts, over 98 lakh followers and an average of 15,272 likes per post. It ended the year with a CB Score of 0.053.

India’s national telecom company BSNL also managed a decent CB Score of 0.03, 693 posts and 5,40,539 total fans. Tata Docomo saw a drastic fall in their social media outputs with a very low CB Score of 0.001, although it managed to post 251 times during the year with a large fan base of 12 million plus.

As the customers become more demanding, it will be interesting to see how these telecom companies will connect more with them or an entirely new player will spoil their party, just like Jio did a year and a half ago.
